Course Introduction

Dear Learner, welcome to the course “Extension program planning, monitoring and evaluation”. The course is divided in to five units. The first unit is concerned with concept of extension program planning which is an important tool to effectively learn the subsequent courses. The second unit deals with collecting information for extension program planning which is a useful tool for people like you who are working in development and other related sectors. The third unit is focuses on   methods of extension program planning emphasizing on the steps to be followed. The fourth unit is on Logical Framework considered as the most powerful planning and management tool. The fifth unit addresses extension program monitoring and evaluation for tracking progress against previously agreed plans and to understand the value of extension program planning in order to do things better in the future.

Dear learners, the course notes are prepared in such a way that you can understand it very well. Please allocate enough time to study the notes. Do not forget to relate what you read with the practical or real world. Each unit in this module has introductions and objectives. At the beginning of the sections or in between you are given learning activities. This will help you try by yourself what that particular section is about. Try your best! If you cannot get it wright, go through the note to get an understanding of the material.
